Eligibility for Leadership DeKalb is open to individuals who live, work, or have a vested interest in DeKalb County. Ideal candidates are those with a history of community service, who are considered emerging or established leaders in their field.
Leadership DeKalb values the diversity of the county and seeks applicants who reflect this.
Residency in DeKalb County is not a requirement for the program.
To apply, one can be nominated by a Leadership DeKalb alumni or self-apply when the application period opens.
Nominations can be submitted by downloading, completing, and returning the nomination form via email.
The Leadership DeKalb Program offers a ten-month journey where participants delve into DeKalb County's various sectors, enhance leadership abilities, and network within the community. The program includes eight full-day sessions, held monthly, covering topics like local government, health, education, justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and quality of life. Additionally, participants experience a shift with county police or fire services and work on a Community Service Project, presented at the program's conclusion.
The program costs include a $50 non-refundable application fee and a $3,500 tuition upon acceptance.
Scholarship opportunities are available, although they are limited.
